Kolumbansweg
On his way from Bangor to Bobbio, Columban and his companions have arrived at the Swiss border in Basel. Welcome to the Swiss-Austrian-Liechtenstein section of the European Columban Cultural Trail Via Columbani.
The route through the Switzerland-Austria-Liechtenstein region offers hikers an extremely attractive variety of cultural and natural attractions.
The journey often follows rivers (Rhine, Aare, Limmat) and allows you to enjoy the river landscapes in all their facets. Two larger lakes (Lake Zurich, Lake Constance) offer opportunities to either travel by boat or hike along their shores.
At the start of the Kolumbansweg, the route leads from Basel to Rheinfelden and then from Rheinfelden to Laufenburg. It is worth making a stop in the Zähringerstädli, whether to relax, discover historical sights or cool off.
