Hiking Trail Hops & Malt

Walk in the footsteps of Rheinfelden's beer history - past the beautiful Feldschlösschen.

A beery circular trail.

This varied circular walk starting at Rheinfelden railway station first takes you past the former Salmen brewery. On the Rheinweg you reach the Augarten housing estate. Continue along the golf course to the edge of the forest area «Berg», and back through the Feldschlösschen brewery to the station.

Brauerei Feldschlösschen Rheinfelden mit Getreidefeld

Beer town Rheinfelden.

The Salmen brewery was founded in 1799 on Marktgasse by Franz Josef Dietschy from Pfaffenberg/D. The Salmen pond served as an ice pond for the Salmen brewery until around 1900. Today the pond is looked after by the town's fishermen's guild. The Weiherfeld forest is a nature reserve and is left in its original state as a floodplain forest without any maintenance measures.

From the Friedensweg, you have a beautiful view over the Rhine into the areas of southern Baden (Dinkelberg, Hotzenwald). The Feldschlösschen Brewery was founded in 1876 by Theophil Roniger and Matthias Wüthrich.
