Walk in the footsteps of Rheinfelden's beer history - past the beautiful Feldschlösschen.
A beery circular route.
This varied circular walk, starting at Rheinfelden railroad station, first takes you past the former Salmen brewery. The Rheinweg takes you to the Augarten housing estate. The trail continues along the golf course to the edge of the Berg forest area, and back through the Feldschlösschen bre wery to the railroad station.
Beer town Rheinfelden.
The Salmen brewery was founded in 1799 on Marktgasse by Franz Josef Dietschy from Pfaffenberg, Germany. The Salmenweiher pond was used by the Salmen brewery as an ice pond until around 1900. Today, the pond is maintained by the town's fishing guild. The Weiherfeldwald forest is a nature reserve. It is left in its original state as a floodplain forest without any maintenance measures.
From the Friedensweg you have a beautiful view over the Rhine to the southern Baden areas (Dinkelberg, Hotzenwald). The Feldschlösschen brewery was founded in 1876 by Theophil Roniger and Matthias Wüthrich.
