Cycle tour Möhlin/Schwörstadt - Kaiseraugst/Herten

A leisurely tour on both sides of the Rhine.

Between the Swiss villages of Kaiseraugst and Möhlin, as well as the German towns of Schwörstadt and Herten, there is a beautiful cycle route along the Rhine. The tour mostly leads through shady forests - natural roads and asphalt alternate.

The almost 26 km long route with around 80 meters of ascent can be completed in around 2 hours without stopping. But there is so much to see along the route. Stop at one of the many benches and enjoy the view of the Rhine. Visit Beuggen Castle and the Tschamber Caves on the German side of the Rhine or marvel at the hydroelectric power stations.

Power stations, bridges & a ferry.

You cross the Rhine at least twice. Once at the Riburg-Schwörstadt power station and once at Kaiseraugst/Herten. The Kaiseraugst Rhine ferry will be waiting for you there.

The operating times are somewhat limited depending on the time of year. If the ferry is not in operation, continue to the Augst-Whylen power station. As there is also a lock next to the power station, you may be lucky enough to see the Basel passenger boat on its way between Rheinfelden and Basel.

Starting point Rheinfelden.

The route can be started at any waypoint. However, Rheinfelden is best suited for this. Easily accessible by car, bus, train and boat, the small town is the ideal starting point. There are also numerous bike stands and restaurants in the old town for refreshments.
