On the trail of the Habsburgs

Austrian coats of arms on the town hall, bullet traces on the Storchennestturm and massive city walls - discover the contemporary witnesses of the Habsburg monarchy.

The highlight of this tour is the Town Hall.

Marvel at the well-preserved Habsburg rulers' paintings, including Maria Theresa. She introduced, for example, fire insurance for buildings, as well as compulsory education for girls.

The Commandant's House, the Austrian coats of arms and the former barracks in Kupfergassen are further witnesses of the Habsburgs. Habsburg influences can even be seen in the late Baroque town church.

After almost 500 years of rule, the Confederates arrived: they ushered in a new era. This formed the basis for today's canton of Aargau.
