Salt Gourmet Tour
Here, everything revolves around "white gold." Join this culinary tour to learn how salt was discovered and where it’s used today. Includes a 3-course salt-themed meal and drinks.
Rheinfelden as a sophisticated spa town.
Salt was the main factor that helped Rheinfelden rise to become a fashionable spa town at the end of the 19th century. To this day, those seeking relaxation enjoy the healing effects of the brine on their skin, joints, and muscles at the Rheinfelden brine baths.
In 1848, underground salt deposits were discovered in Riburg near Rheinfelden. To this day, this salt mine remains one of three sites in Switzerland that produces salt. Among other things, this salt laid the foundation for the emerging pharmaceutical industry.
Experience salt in all its forms.
The tour guides will take you on a journey through time, sharing amusing anecdotes and practical tips about this “white gold.” Along the way, you’ll enjoy a 3-course salt-themed menu with wine pairings—one glass of wine per course—at two restaurants. In the idyllic garden of the Hotel Eden im Park****, you’ll be served appetizers seasoned with various salts.
The highlight to finish with: watch the sunset over the Rhine from the Park-Hotel am Rhein****’s Rhine terrace .
