Rheinfelden as a spa town: tradition and modernity
Rheinfelden has been a certified wellness destination since 2015, but its tradition of salt and spa treatments dates back to the 19th century.
Rheinfelden as a sophisticated spa town.
In 1837, workers discovered salt deposits not far from Rheinfelden. Shortly thereafter, the first saltwater bath opened, marking the beginning of Rheinfelden as a spa and health resort. Hoteliers welcomed guests from Paris, Vienna, and Russia.
The tradition of saltwater baths is carried on by the “sole uno” wellness center and the EDEN saltwater bath. Since 2019, the salty water has even been used for shrimp farming.

The route will then be planned to ensure there are plenty of places to sit at short intervals. City tours are also available for people in wheelchairs. The tour and sights will be slightly adjusted so that no insurmountable stairs prevent you from enjoying the experience.
