Marvel at the well-preserved portraits of the Habsburg rulers, including Maria Theresa. She introduced, for example, fire insurance for buildings and compulsory education for girls.

In Habsburg times, the Kommandantenhaus was the residence of the Austrian commanders in Rheinfelden.
After nearly 500 years of rule, the Swiss Confederates arrived, ushering in a new era. This laid the foundation for the modern-day canton of Aargau.
Visit the permanent exhibition on the Habsburgs in the Wehrgang, which is part of the Fricktal Museum .

This tour is not suitable for people in wheelchairs or with severe mobility impairments. The City Hall and the Ringmauerscheune cannot be visited, as they are only accessible via steep stairs.
