When spring arrives...

Who doesn't love sitting outside again after the cooler winter months and letting the sun smile on you? The days are getting longer and longer and the temperatures are getting a little warmer. Yes, we can feel the spring.

In Rheinfelden, we have been doing so for some time now. And not alone.

We celebrate the awakening of spring with the whole region and are delighted when many people from near and far flock to our little town on this special day and enjoy a few pleasant hours with us.

A crowd puller

In fact, our "Spring Awakening" - weather permitting - has become a real crowd-puller. On May 1st, many people from the region have the day off and come to us to enjoy a nice day out.

As a long-standing member of the "Pro Altstadt" retail association, I have also been part of the Spring Awakening organization team for many years.

This event is very important for us store owners as well as for the restaurateurs. Because when the weather is nice, there is hardly any other day when we have so many guests in our beautiful town.

Planning begins in the fall

Irene Luzi, Anina Steib, Walli Vromans, Mägi Steinacher and I make up the organization team. Each fall, we get together and start planning the next event. We can "pull certain things out of the drawer". But we're also always coming up with new ideas. It is also important for us to communicate with the city. We are in close contact with our city manager, Corinne Caracuta, and are always thinking about new ideas. In doing so, we consider the ideal combination of innovation and the tried and tested.

Entertainment for everyone

We would like to offer our guests a varied program.

For example, they can look forward to the professional fashion show presented by the Rheinfeld fashion stores at 1 pm and 3 pm on Zähringerplatz. Mägi Steinacher from Boutique Accessoire Cuir, Walli Vromans from "Tragbar" and Irene Luzi from Müller Schuhe invest hours to put together something very special for this day. Although it means a lot of work for them, they are always incredibly excited about this special day. There are also car and bike exhibitions and lots of concerts. For our younger guests, we offer a great program on Idi-Furrer-Platz (near the Red House) with balloons, face painting and a carousel. Fine food is available from all the restaurateurs and especially on Albrechtsplatz and also on Idi-Furrer-Platz. Anina Steib from Restaurant Mundart is one of the members of our OC responsible for the culinary part of the event.

From a cultural point of view, there is a lot going on in our little town during the "Spring Awakening". For example, there are hourly guided tours of the Stork Nest Tower. The Fricktal Museum also opens its doors and offers many free activities. For example, visitors can paint a selfie of what it would have looked like in the past or have their portrait painted in sand by artist Urs Rudin.

So there will be a lot going on in our old town on May 1st. We look forward to celebrating the spring awakening with numerous guests and hope - in keeping with our motto for the year - that many people will rediscover the old town of Rheinfelden.
