Adventsfunkeln Rheinfelden
Advent in Rheinfelden will again offer a very special atmosphere for a visit this year. From Friday, December 1, 2023 to January 7, 2024, numerous attractions, markets and illuminations will sweeten the contemplative Christmas season.
Christmas sparkle December 1, 2023.
To set the mood for the Advent season and the beginning of the Advent sparkle, the Christmas sparkle will take place in the old town on December 1, 2023 from 5 pm. The Stadtmusik Rheinfelden together with the music school Unteres Fricktal will provide the musical framework for this event. The stores in the old town will be open until 8 pm that evening. As a highlight, the illuminated 6-horse carriage of the Feldschlösschens brewery will drive through the old town and bring the Christmas beer in front of the town hall. As an alternative to beer, punch will also be served.
Weihnachtsbeleuchtung.
Im Advent funkeln nicht nur die klassische Weihnachtsbeleuchtung in der Altstadt sowie die beiden grossen Weihnachtsbäume beim Rathaus; rund 70 Bäume werden von 12 Kindergarten- und Primarschulklassen sowie seitens Stadt und Gewerbe dekoriert; auch der Stadtpark West und das Inseli erstrahlen in besinnlichem Licht.
Die öffentliche Strassenbeleuchtung, welche mit der Beleuchtung in der Altstadt gekoppelt ist, beginnt um 15.30 Uhr.
Christmas lighting.
During Advent, not only the classic Christmas lights in the old town and the two large Christmas trees near the town hall sparkle; the Stadtpark West and the Inseli also shine in contemplative light. Different subjects and colors transform the two parks into a mystical fairytale forest.
The magic lights will be lit from 3:30 p.m. on each day.
Carriage rides in Advent.
Enjoy the pre-Christmas decorated Old Town on a ride in a carriage pulled by Feldschlösschen brewery horses and a mulled wine or punch stop in the city park at the Rhybar WinterQuartier.
Christmas markets: Small but nice.
Rheinfelden does not have a large, classic Christmas market - but several small but fine Advent markets.
Medieval Christmas market in the Martinum from November 25-26.
On December 9 and 10, the Christmas creative market will take place at the Kurbrunnenanlage. More than 90 creative minds from Rheinfelden and all over Switzerland will offer their Christmas-inspired crafts.
From November 30 to December 3, 2023, the area around the "Brauwelt" will be transformed into the "Feldschlösschen Winter Village". Salt products, woodwork, beery gift ideas, mulled beer and Schüblig await visitors.
The Rheinfeld weekly market will take place as usual on Wednesday and Saturday mornings in December.

WinterQuartier.
In the Stadtpark West at the playground, a culinary outdoor experience of the Rhybar with hot drinks and small snacks awaits you. Entertainment is also provided. The handicraft wagon and the crispy house invite you to do handicrafts or listen to a fairy tale on several days during Advent.

Customs & Traditions.
On Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, the fountain singing takes place in Rheinfelden. This old custom has been celebrated by the Sebastiani Brotherhood for hundreds of years.
Every Saturday and Sunday, the Three Kings stand in front of the town hall from 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. and collect donations for a good cause.
Advent windows Rheinfelden.
It is hard to imagine Rheinfelden without the tradition of the artistically decorated Advent windows. For many years, volunteers have been decorating their windows with a great deal of creativity and joy, thus helping to cast a Christmas spell over Rheinfelden.
